Dry Needling

Dry Needling Therapy

Dry needling is a western physiotherapy technique informed by modern anatomy and neuroscience. It is the practice of inserting fine, sterile needles into the body, often into myofascial trigger points (tight bands of muscle tissue that can cause local and referred pain) to induce a twitch response that ultimately results in the relaxation of the tight tissue and improved blood flow to the area. This translates physically to improved range of movement and pain reduction.

Dry needling is a useful intervention for many issues, including tension headaches, sports injuries, persistent pain, and even jaw issues. It works particularly well as part of a greater treatment plan, and is a good maintenance intervention to reduce injury flare ups.

  • Immediate reduction in muscle tension
  • Decreased pain levels
  • Improved movement patterns
  • Enhanced recovery from injury

Rhyan is also completing further training in traditional Japanese acupuncture, which is an ancient intervention based on balancing the flow of qi through the body's meridian system. It is particularly relevant in the management of persistent pain, stress, and systemic conditions.
